Inductors cut losses in PSU designs
Operating frequency is 100kHz to 1MHz at an operating temperatureof -40 to +130C with no thermal derating. The inductors use a ferrite core material which has one-tenth thecore loss of iron powder or iron alloy core materials whichsignificantly increases system efficiency 5 to 10%. The lower core loss of the ferrite material is optimised atfrequencies above 500kHz and because the ferrite material is immuneto thermal aging, the components are very reliable at higheroperating temperatures. A self-leaded, round, wire coil provides a lower tolerance of thedirect current resistance (DCR) to 6% and the tight DCRtolerance improves current sensing control and the power supply'sregulation and transient response. The RoHS compliant PG0702NL inductors have an industry standard 4040footprint of 10.8 x 9.5 x 8mm and incorporate a Alloy Pindesignfor improved mechanical stability. An unconnected third pin at the back of the inductor distributes weight and balance between the three terminals duringmechanical vibration.
